"Our family loved the Lissac. Our group of 12 people (plus a few more for the last 3 nights) had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the gorgeous garden, spacious pool, and the piece de resistance - the 'abri' or outdoor dining area. So even when it rained on a couple of occasions, we could still eat outside. The house oozed warmth and charm, and the view from the abri was beautiful. We saw buzzards, kites, herons and hares. Our group's ages ranged from 18 months to 66, and everyone had a fantastic time. Our family rarely get to be together all under one roof for any length of time, so this was a special time for us and hopefully we will return to Lissac one day. The booking process was also straightforward and lots of helpful information provided. Can't recommend enough."

"This is a lovely house with gorgeous large grounds and a big pool. The open barn veranda is a wonderful spot to laze away your days admiring the beautiful views over open countryside. It is also a great place for large groups to eat together in all weather. We were a group of 16 friends and enjoyed the pool, the open fires and made a lot of use of the piano! It is ideal if you want to really get away from it all. Best if you have a couple of keen cooks as it is a great spot to eat together, and restaurants are a bit of a drive. That suited us perfectly."

"We booked Le Fossat as the second week to our summer vacation in Spain & France, for our family of 4 which included two teenage children. The first week was spent in the north of Spain in a lovely villa, quite modern and very 'normal' when it comes to Villa rentals ie...quite prescribed in terms of inventory and 'rules' etc. We had a great time and would happily return. Le Fossat was very different, in a good way! When we received the holiday 'pack' the first few lines described it as more of a family home to have holidays in than a holiday home. And, as we discovered, there is a difference. The Gites is perfectly situated, a 10 minute drive from superb restaurants and supermarkets and 15 minutes from lovely Bastide villages and 30 minutes from larger towns such as Foix. The countryside is stunning so much so that even our kids were impressed. The house itself was superb because it was a real home, with all the feeling of a place that was well loved and contained good and bad taste in terms of artwork, ornaments, books and furniture. It was just like our house! (as the holiday pack advised!) There were no rules as such and we felt under no pressure to behave in a certain way, or to follow certain procedures....it was totally relaxing. There were only 4 of us and we had space 'a' plenty, I can imagine that two families here would be idyllic with the size of the grounds and swimming pool, and the interior was 'shabby chic' and large. If you are slightly OCD, then Le Fossat may not be your cup of tea but our Spanish villa would be a good choice, but if you want a truly relaxing carefree holiday in a real home then this place is great."

"On behalf of the 13 of us, thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday at Lissac. We all had such a great time - what a beautiful house, exactly what we were after and what beautiful scenery and setting. We couldn't have asked for anywhere that was more perfect for our needs: great house, great pool, great garden and great outdoor area which we spent many hours in. The house had everything we needed, and we wouldn't think twice about coming back."

"As soon as you enter 'Lissac', the house just oozes character, and you sense all of the effort and care that the Owners family have put into bringing the property back to life (...and there is a nice little display explaining some of the work they had to do).
We were a large party of fourteen, and the al fresco dining arrangement were just perfect (completely undercover, so temperature is the onlt issue - and fortunately not for us!).
Sleeping and bathroom arrangements are perfectly acceptable for large groups with just a little bit of co-ordinating - and the tall ones do need to keep their heads down on the landing!
The gardens are lovely with lots of outdoor activities provided for, and the clean, well kept pool tops it off. that we had to share them with red squirrels and Hoopoe Birds was just a delight.
For the energetic, there is a very nice 12-14km circular walk to Fossat, returning through the pretty hamlet of Bajou. We managed to try most of the restaurant recommendations and were not disappointed.
All in all.....A great group holiday destination.

"Very pretty house with plenty of character and lots of home from home touches.
Lovely garden and private pool ideal for a big group of family/friends like ours with lovely covered outside area for eating large enough to seat 16.
Also very popular table tennis table! Plenty of space and seclusion to be as noisey/quiet as we liked play boule etc etc
Instantly relaxing we felt far from hustle and bustle, but were only a short drive from the local village with shop and bar.Large supermarket also a short drive away. Not tempted to move much as so lovely round the house/pool/garden but pretty villages ,local mountain, cave and lake beauty spots all close to. Fantastic hot sunshine completed a perfect holiday
We had no problems but very discreet [optional] caretaker cleans the pool daily and takes care of any problems. This is our second time to Lissac with a big group of adults and teenagers and it was fabulous(again).

"Lissac was the 5th house we have rented in the south of France since 1997. We spent August and September there, with visits from children, grandchildren, and many friends, all of whom had been our guests before. All were in agreement that Lissac was the best ever. The house itself easily accommodated a large crowd, the night sky shone and the shooting stars and the views of the Milky Way always made for great theater. The panoramic views of the Pyrenees from almost anywhere you went were magnificent. The nearby markets had wonderful produce. The property at Lissac itself had wonderful places to sit in the shade to read or to sleep. Eating outside for long lunches and for evening meals in the covered barn area made for the best outdoor dining we have experienced.

The kitchen was large, well stocked with pots and pans, plates, glasses, and flat wear. Since we love to cook with our family and guests this was very important to us. If we did want to go to a restaurant there were excellent ones in the surrounding towns- Carla Bayle and St. Sulpice were our favorites. There were more than adequate sheets, pillow cases, and blankets. The toilets and the showers functioned well over the course of our two months. The house was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The guardian for the property was always available for help and advice. And if it did get cold in the evenings towards the end of September, there was plenty of firewood and a great wood burning fireplace to keep us warm and cozy.

If you like to hike or like outdoor activities, the Pyrenees are a wonderful playground. One of our grandsons came with a bunch of his friends and they delighted in the canyoning and go-carting. We like to hike so we found the area replete with both easy and hard hiking experiences. This is a great area for people who like the outdoors but beware- the views from the house are mesmerizing and seductive. You can easily sit for hours watching the clouds in the huge sky and the shadows of clouds on the hillsides.

But the best thing were our wonderful landlords, Lynnie and Nell Ravenscroft who made us feel welcome, from the very first email to the last. We do not believe that you can do better than Lissac in the south of France.

"We (6 adults & 8 children) had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday here. This house is situated quietly but close enough to local services and shops to make life easy.... everything you need is there.

There is plenty of shade in the garden for when the weather gets hot and plenty of room for a game of football when it cools down.

The house has a covered "barn" area at one end which allowed us to eat all our meals outside, whatever the weather, and there is a huge amount of safe space around for the children to go off and explore.

The lounge is large and setup as different seating areas, which allows for different activities (reading, games etc) to all happen in this one space. We loved the piano. We never missed the telly.

The bedrooms have mosquito nets, which we found useful, not because we had problems with mosquitos, but we had the windows wide open at night and the nets prevented the moths from flapping around our heads.

There are plenty of local villages and places of interest to visit but you may just wish to relax in the garden and make use of the pool.

You will need a car to get around and make the most of your stay. Places like Carcassonne, Foix, Monsegeur, Mirepoix and even the pyrenees are all easily reached and all make a great day out.

Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday

"The holiday was great and we all had a lovely time. Lissac was just what we wanted - very welcoming and "lived in" (in the nicest possible way) with the sort of "home from home" atmosphere we were looking for. Very quiet and spacious and with plenty of different areas in which to relax"

"I would just like to say thank you very much for allowing us to rent "Lissac" We all had a great time.

The weather was excellent, the house and gardens were excellent and suited our three families  very well.   We all agreed it was one of our best holidays, we have  all been going away together for over 12 years now.
